Posting a New Auction Help

Posting your Lego items for sale here at AuctionBrick.com is easy. Simply register (if you have not already done so) by clicking Get Registered here or at the side of any auction page. Be sure to follow the directions in the email you will receive to confirm your email address for your account.

Before you sell items we highly recommend that you fill out the Update Options form by clicking here or at the Update Options link under Your Account on the left. You can choose your own selling defaults for a number of fields which will speed up your listings.

We also recommend that you login on the upper right corner of the screen, so that your password and username are automatically filled out for you. This puts a cookie on your browser (the only cookie at AuctionBrick.com and will save you a lot of time as you manuever throughout the site.

To post an item for sale click on Sell Your Item here or at the side of any screen. Log on, and you will have the following 3 options:

  1. After you have logged on you will be given the option to either download a picture from your computer (Option 1) or choose a picture from the internet (Option 2) or use the BulkLister (Option 3). If you want to use the BulkLister, first read the BulkLister Directions first. Select your option and follow the directions. Then fill in the form that pops up with a short descriptive title (make it snazzy to get people's attention). Be sure to fill in the Set Number box if applicable and include descriptive words in the title that people are likely to search for. Next, select which category the item should be in (if you don't see an appropriate category on the drop down list, please suggest a new catagory and we will try to accomodate you.

Pictures sell items! It's very simple to upload a photograph from your computer using our free image upload service. No HUGE files please. Try to keep the images under 50K if possible. If your item does not have a picture or if you want to put all your imbed your pictures in your description you can select the option you can choose the option for using a default "no picture" icon.

Decide how many days you want to offer your item at auction. Our system supports 1-14 days. Seven days is usually a good minimum, as it will give people plenty of time to hear about your item and bid. We have an auto relist feature if your item doesn't get bid on and you want to keep listing it. But if your item is not getting bids, it may be overpriced or poorly described so it is usually a good idea to change things before relisting instead of using the auto relist.

Enter a description. You can simply type your description into the Description box but we also support HTML. Feel free to use your favorite HTML editor (like FrontPage), then cut and paste your descriptive masterpiece into the Description box. Be sure to include such facts as who pays for shipping, how much you will charge for shipping. Also detail the type of payments you will accept, such as personal checks, credit cards, Paypal, will you ship C.O.D., and so forth.

Remember, when you sell at AuctionBrick.com you are guaranteeing that your item description is correct, particularly the condition! If you and your buyer disagree once the buyer receives the item, the buyer has a right to send it back to you (the seller). If your buyer returns your goods, you must refund them the entire winning bid amount of the auction. Notifiy us, and we will deduct the auction fees for that auction from your account. The buyer has 5 days from the receipt of the item to examine it and determine that it is as good as the seller says it is. If the buyer paid postage separate from the winning bid, the seller does not have to refund that amount. Return shipping is at the buyers expense.

Is this a Fixed Price Item? A Fixed Price item at AuctionBrick.com is simply an item with a fixed price. If you have a number of the same item that you want to sell at a given price, make your listing a Fixed Price Item. Specify how many of the items you have. The price you set is the price you will get each time one of your items sells.

After the description is complete, enter your username in the Your Username box and your password in the box below.

Below that is the Your Starting Bid box. The starting bid is very important. If you put a very low price just remember, you might get it! A good auction strategy is to start an item at the lowest price you are willing to sell it for, then anything above that is a pleasant bonus!

You have the option of entering a Reserve Bid, which is the minimum winning bid amount you will accept for the item. A better strategy is usually to simply make your mimimum bid the least amount you will accept fot the item.

Your Bid Increment is the the minimum amount that each new bid will need to be. It is a good idea to base your Bid Increment on what you estimate the vaule of your item is - maybe 50 cents or less if the item will probably sell for less than $10, $1 if it will sell for less than $100 and $5 if it will sell for more than $100. A well thought out Bid Increment will prevent anyone by beating another person out in a $500 auction by a mere 50 cents, and it will also encourage bidding by not forcing a bidder to bid $10 for a item currently bid at $5 which the bidder may want to buy at $7.

If you are willing to sell your item for a specific price above the minimum bid you can enter a Buy It Now Price. With the Buy it Now option a bidder can choose to avoid the competition of the auction by selecting Buy it Now at the start of the auction. You get a good price and the buyer gets the item at no risk of loosing it to another bidder. Once bidding starts the Buy it Now option goes away.

Posting items on this and any other internet auction is a legally binding action. Your are irrevocably promising, assuming you get one or more bids, to sell the item and ship it promptly after payment is received. Mutual trust between buyer and seller is what drives online auctions. We will not tolerate scammers or false advertisers!

Once the posting form is filled in to your satisfaction, hit the Preview button. The system shows how the posted item will look. If you like what you see, click on the Post button and the auction will go live. If not, use the Back button on your browser to back up and make changes.

You will be notified automatically by e-mail if the items sells or if the auction ends without selling. If it does not sell feel free to repost it. Remember, there is never a fee for posting at AuctionBrick.com!

If someone sends you e-mail asking about an item, please respond promptly and courteously. It is good business etiquette.

We expect you to be honest and truthful in the descriptions of posted items. Remember your guarantee of item condition! Anyone abusing this auction site will have their account cancelled.

So, post away and the very best of luck to you from us at AuctionBrick.com! Please remember, if you have any questions, drop us an e-mail.

    Happy buying and selling!
